1. Who are we?

Policy Forum (PF) is a network of 76 civil society organisations brought together in their interest in poverty reduction, equity and democratization and pursuit to enhance and augment the voice of ordinary citizens in national policy processes. The network focuses on governance and public money accountability at both central and local levels. PF wishes to recruit a Programme Assistant – Advocacy & Engagement.


2. Programme Assistant– Advocacy & Engagement

Supporting Manager – Advocacy & Engagement
Assist in implementing the Policy Forum Communication and Advocacy Strategy including the systematic distribution of publications; updating the Policy Forum website and social media sites; translating and editing of publications (English/Kiswahili); responding to basic correspondence on policy-related issues; organising internal and external meetings; and eventually producing initial drafts of Policy Forum published materials.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Awareness of and demonstrated interest in critical issues in the Tanzanian policy environment at local and national level.
  • Good basic analytical skills.
  • Ability to function well in teams and to work productively in a multidisciplinary environment with diverse groups of people.
  • Good communication skills, verbally and in writing, in Kiswahili and English.
  • Ability to deliver high quality results within strict deadlines.
  • Basic IT and social media skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with civil society in Tanzania on policy issues.


What key qualifications and experience are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in social sciences, journalism, public relations, mass communication, law, public policy, governance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding in one or more of the following: 1) public sector reform 2) management of advocacy strategies 3) public policy implementation strategies 4) working with the media on policy issues.
  • Experience in working with Tanzanian civil society on policy advocacy issues would be a distinct advantage.
