Social Worker – Dar es Salaam

Com.sol is an Italian NGO founded in 2007 based in Rome (Italy).
It operates to promote networks of solidarity between North-South citizens and communities. Com.sol is active in Tanzania since 2009, it focuses on actions in the fields of disability, education, agriculture and employability.

The interventions are planned to support vulnerable groups, especially children and people with disabilities, by promoting a Community based Rehabilitation (CBR) approach that implies activities of medical rehabilitation, economic empowerment, educational and social inclusion inside the communities to which the targeted people belong.
The interventions are developed to be replicated also in the surrounding areas, in collaboration with public and private local, Italian and international stakeholders, ensuring as much as possible sustainability.

In December 2016 Com.sol was awarded a grant from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation for the implementation of a project entitled “ALL INCLUSIVE: A multi-sectoral initiative fostering the inclusion of people with disabilities within the Dar es Salaam community – 10922/CEFA/TZA”.
The ALL INCLUSIVE project is meant to improve the livelihoods of people with disabilities (PwDs) in Dar es Salaam through a holistic action based on a Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) approach that combines medical rehabilitation, economic empowerment, social and educational inclusion.

Rehabilitation of PWDs, especially children, is one of the main goals of the proposed project, as demonstrated by the Action’s Expected Result 1 “To increase the Tanzanian health system’s effectiveness in addressing the challenges set by disability.”. In order to achieve such result, the proposed project foresees the construction of a Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Centre in Kawe District and the implementation of various services/activities that will be targeting PwDs, communities, health workers and local authorities mainly of Kinondoni Municipality.
