The Government of Germany has committed funds to support the Government of Tanzania with a Financial Cooperation grant of EUR 18.0 million to support the conservation and development of the Selous Ecosystem that contribute to the maintenance of the ecological integrity of the Selous Ecosystem, through the implementation of the Selous Ecosystem Conservation and Development Program (SECAD)" Overall
SECAD is contributing to the long term goal of: The effective conservation and sustainable use of natural resources contribute to rural development in selected districts and ensures that globally significant ecosystems remain intact. SpeciflcaUy the objective of SECAD is: uNatural Resources of Selous Game Reserve and selected community use zones in adjacent districts are effectively protected and managed in a coordinated manner by SGR management and other stakeholders."
