Role purpose:

Staff under His/Her Supervision: Research and Development Officer. 
 
BASIC FUNCTIONS: 
To manage implementation of research programs in line with the research agenda as 
specified in the Financing Agreement and Operational Manual. 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
She/He shall: 
a) Coordinate revision of Research Agenda and Strategy; 
b) Coordinate implementation of the Research Program 
c) Coordinate the design and revision of guidelines and guides related to research; 
d) Coordinate development and revision of research implementation plans; 
e) Coordinate preparation and review of research proposals/concepts and designing of 
research projects on the basis of priority research areas; 
f) Coordinate design and implementation of studies and action research/ trailing; 
Coordinate review of requests for studies and research undertaken by Masters and 
PhD students; 
g) Supervise the organization of forums on sharing studies and research findings with 
stakeholders; 
h) Ensure documentation of lessons learnt from various studies and research that will 
contribute to better management of the Project. 
i) Prepare and compile unit annual implementation plan and budgets. 
j) Consolidate implementation progress reports in the Unit. 
k) Conduct performance appraisals of Research and Development Unit using agreed 
upon performance indicators. 
l) Be a member of the TASAF Management Team. 
m) Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Director of Community 
Support. 
 
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
a) A Master’s Degree in Economics, Social Science, Business, Statistics, or any other 
development related field from a recognized university. 
b) At least seven (7) years’ experience in relevant field in Public and / or Private 
Sectors and managerial experience of at least three (3) years; 
c) Experience in the management of social/community development projects 
d) Must be computer literate. 
e) Should be knowledgeable of integrated qualitative and quantitative approaches to 
research projects on poverty; 
f) Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of and experience with donor 
funded project. 
g) High level of communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with people 
at all levels. 
h) Ability to supervise, train and coach staff in relevant skills. 
i) Self-motivated with integrity and high level of confidentiality. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES: 
a) Existence of revised Research Agenda and Strategy; 
b) Number of research guidelines and guides prepared and revised; 
c) Existence of implementation progress reports on research and development; 
d) Number of research proposals and concepts reviewed.

SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER – 1 Vacancy, DSM  
Nature and Scope:  
The successful candidate will report to the Research and Advisory Manager.  He/She will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out studies aimed at enriching the bank’s knowledge and information base to facilitate implementation of its vision, mission and objectives. 
 
Key Responsibilities:  
 Conduct research in order to identify financing gaps for product  innovation across the agriculture value chains; 
 Carry out research on the value chains of various agriculturalrelated crops and advise on the feasible interventions to be made by the bank; 
 Undertake market research on potential markets for agricultural produce under value chains of focus to facilitate linkage to farmers; 
 Initiate proposals for financial resources mobilization and technical support for research and capacity building to staff, farmer organizations, extension officers and other targeted groups; 
 Provide inputs on to support the bank’s efforts aimed at establishing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships with other development banks for the purpose of sharing knowledge and business; 
 In collaboration with domestic and international research and training institutions organize capacity building programs to bring about the required transformation in the agriculture sector;  Initiate proposals to establish collaborations and working relationships and consultative fora between the bank and worldrenown international research institutions; 
 Create a well-established network and maintain a research database of adequate agriculture sector information to facilitate informed decisions; 
 Design appropriate curriculum and conduct capacity building programmes for lending institutions and smallholder farmer organizations; 
 Coordinate strategic partners engaged with youth development fund mobilization for financing youths agricultural-related enterprises; 
 Coordinate and carry out other research aimed at enriching the bank’s knowledge and information base to facilitate implementation of its vision, mission and objectives; 
 Co-ordinate the bank’s efforts aimed at establishing and maintaining collaborations and partnerships with other development banks for the purpose of sharing knowledge and business. 
 Design, implement and maintain a corporate knowledge management framework to safeguard institutional memory; 
 Prepare writing research specifications, project requirements, objectives and research reference terms; 
 Carry out survey in the identified pilot regions to determine adequacy of product financing 
 Establish and upgrade library services to facilitate knowledge sharing in the bank 
 Coordinate establishment of suitable platforms that will enhance Knowledge Management and safeguard institutional memory 
 Determine the financial needs for research and development and prepare Funding proposal 
 Prepare write up of Youth Empowerment in the agricultural value chain 
 Conduct assessment of factors impeding Youth’s access to agricultural opportunities 
 Carry out any other related duties as may be assigned to him/her by Supervisor from time to time. 
 
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:  
 University Degree in Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness, Agricultural extension, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Banking or related discipline; 
 At least five (3) years working experience in a research based organization or related institution; 
 Excellent and well developed interpersonal and organizational skills; 
 Ability to analyze financial and economic data and interpret research reports; 
 Strong written and communication skills with ability to write documentation in a concise and focused style; 
 Must be a team player, very self-motivated and able to manage and prioritize work load with minimum supervision; 
 Computer literate with highly developed computer applications skills; 
 Knowledge of banking industry and its related regulations, policies and procedures will be an added advantage.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (REFERENCE: IITA-TZ-17-R4D-006-NRS-DSM) 
 DUTY STATIONS: DAR ES SALAAM 
 JOB REQUIREMENT 
 
Adegree in civil engineering or higher diploma 
Minimum 2 years experience on constructions project or in building maintenance 
Preferred graduate with upper second is an added advantage 
Must be familiar with maintenance upkeep of office facilities 
Be able to work long hours communicate well have good reporting skills and be able to multitask 
Excellent communications skills including verbal and written English 
Must be proficiency in Ms Office and word AUTOCAD and ARCHICAD 
 
Primary roles 
 
To provide support in the supervision of constructions projects and following up on various identified task with regard to these projects as assigned 
To provide support in the preparations of weekly and monthly preparations of report on building maintenance status and other related 
Any other assignment of that may require the help of a civil engineer 
 
SECONDARY ROLES 
 
Other duties are to providing support to external contractors on the maintenance of the buildings with regard to 
 
General maintenance of all fixed and loose asset electrical and mechanical system 
Update the inventory of all items needed in the general repairs of physical assets for the buildings 
Establish and update the database of suppliers and contractors able to repair and maintain the buildings physical state as required 
 
 
WORK METHOD 
 
o Ensure SOPs and SLAs for contractors are followed according to the contractor in place 
 
o Carry out daily and weekly checks on all equipment at maintenance sites as instructed 
 
o Supervise and follow up on work request and ensure minimum lead time between requested and compliant of job 
 
o Liaise with procurement and finance department to follow up on LOP S and payment 
 
o Provide monthly reports on vehicles status, generators and utilities

 DUTY STATIONS: DAR ES SALAAM 
 JOB REQUIREMENT 
 
o The candidate should have MCs in Agriculture science or related field with emphasis to roots and tuber crops productions 
 
o At least 6 years working in the roots and tuber crops seed system 
 
o Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with a brooded and diverse audience 
 
o Ability to prioritize focus, and achieve results in a last practical 
 
o Flexibility to work across the IITA programme to solve and share problems and identify and develop potential synergies 
 
o Strong communications and negotiation skills 
 
o Demonstrated management leadership skills and experience in the relevant geographic region 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Solely or in directly negotiate advocate and mobilize resources for scalping up commercialized cassava seed system approach in Tanzania 
At project level develop collaborative strategies influence investment priorities at local central government levels and mobilize resources for expanding the activities beyond the targets 
Train selected individuals from the extension offices active NGS and progressive farmers all referred to as cassava seed system champions in advocacy and communications 
Build capacity of the national partner to implent the program beyond the project 
Communicate regional and district priorities to the project implements to ensure internal alignment with local and central government’s strategies goals 
Assist the project manager in the daily management of the project which include organizing team meetings and reporting
